The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is undertaking a fuels management treatment project within the City of Powell River to reduce forest fuels near the Penticton Trails.

Pacific Marine Drive has been reopened to vehicle traffic between Lake Cowichan and Port Renfrew. Fire crews have removed danger trees and cleared away debris related to the Spring Road/Lizard Lake along this route.

Reduced fire activity on the Tsulquate Creek fire near Port Hardy has resulted in the rescinding of the Evacuation Alert by the District of Port Hardy upon the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service.

Effective at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2015, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to include all areas within the fire centrs's jurisdiction, with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the "Fog Zone".

Effective at noon on Saturday, June 27, 2015 within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, campfires will only be allowed on northern Vancouver Island, the mid-coast portion of the mainland and on Haida Gwaii.

While cooler and wetter conditions have allowed firefighters to make good progress on the 700 hectare Elaho wildfire, 67 kilometres west of Pemberton, a return to warm and dry conditions next week may challenge crews.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of the “Fog Zone”.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, Category 2 open fires will be prohibited in the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, all open fires will be permitted across the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, campfires will once again be allowed within the Fraser Fire Zone (most of the Lower Fraser Valley) of the Coastal Fire Centre.
