People travelling through Parksville along Highway 19A will soon experience easier access to the area by vehicle, bicycle or on foot, as road improvements begin Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.

Fifty units of rental housing in Parksville have been protected, keeping rental rates affordable for people through the latest acquisition by the B.C. Rental Protection Fund.

The B.C. government has provided more than $4.3 million in grants to 45 local governments and First Nations in the Coastal Fire Centre to support wildfire-risk-reduction initiatives and help keep communities safe.

Work is underway on a new housing development in Parksville that will provide 87 affordable rental homes for families, seniors and people living with disabilities with moderate and low incomes.

More parents on Vancouver Island will be able to pursue their work or education goals, thanks to 41 licensed child care spaces that have opened during the past five months.
