Highway 4 is on track to fully reopen to two-lane travel at Cameron Lake Bluffs before the Labour Day long weekend, after a successful day of rock scaling allowed crews to move toward stabilizing the bluffs.

Work is continuing toward the full reopening of Highway 4 at Cameron Lake Bluffs.

Highway 4 at Cameron Lake Bluffs is expected to reopen to single-lane-alternating traffic later this morning, Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

Highway 4 at Cameron Lake Bluffs is closed to keep travellers safe as the site is currently experiencing high winds, increasing the risk of rockfall in the area.

Rock scaling planned to start today for Highway 4 at Cameron Lake Bluff will now begin Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 9 a.m., as weather conditions were not conducive for the scaling work to take place.

Highway 4 is closed at Cameron Lake Bluffs because sustained high winds pose safety concerns for cranes suspending protective wire mesh at the site. The mesh must be lowered, which would put the site at increased risk of falling debris.

Highway 4 is expected to open to limited travel as early as the weekend of June 24-25, 2023, after a wildfire closed the route on June 6.
