Residents in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District will be growing more local food in 2017 as the regional district begins its “What’s On Your Fork?” project.

Pedestrians and cyclists in the community of Port Alberni will find improved safety conditions with the upgrade of the Highway 4 crosswalk at Helen Street to a fully signalized intersection.

Young people in Port Alberni will be able to discover the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations, and engage in a direct dialogue with local employers and post-secondary schools about upcoming career opportunities at WorkBC’s Career Education Day.

The Province, in partnership with the BC Lung Association, is improving air quality throughout B.C. by providing $15,600 to the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District as part of the Provincial Wood Stove Exchange Program.

Up to 24 Vancouver Island residents will receive the training they need for jobs in their communities, thanks to the federal-provincial partnership under the Canada-B.C. Job Fund Agreement.

The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the Alberni School District will be prepared thanks to $22,500 in provincial funding awarded to the district, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

The B.C. government has distributed $49,292 in compensation for municipal property taxes to the City of Port Alberni.

Students, teachers and staff at Wood Elementary school in the Alberni school district will benefit from $350,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

The Province is launching engineering work for Highway 4 corridor upgrades and safety improvements, following a review of the Highway 4 Horne Lake Connector business case, which concluded that an alternative route between Port Alberni and Highway 19 is not financially feasible.

Families in the Alberni school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $71,717 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.
