The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following a motor vehicle incident near Likely, B.C., on the afternoon of May 30, 2016.

Business and industry leaders, members of the public, First Nations and local politicians gathered to celebrate a local milestone in Prince George – the planting of the one-billionth tree in the Prince George Natural Resource District since planting began in the area in 1959.

Despite recent cool temperatures and precipitation in the Prince George Fire Centre, the weather outlook is forecasting for another warm drying trend.

Hot, dry conditions and light winds are contributing to an increase in fire sizes and smoke throughout the Peace Region.

BC Wildfire Service crews are taking advantage of the recent rain and cooler temperatures to continue their attack on four fires of note in the Peace region – the Beatton Airport Road, Siphon Creek, Carter Road and Halfway River fires.

Recent warm, dry conditions have led to increased fire activity in the Prince George Fire Centre. Scattered showers are forecasted for this weekend which should aid fire suppression efforts.

Two wildfires in the Prince George Fire Centre that were previously identified as the Beatton Airport Road fire and the Stoddart Road fire have combined to become a single fire. It is now referred to simply as the Beatton Airport Road fire (G80046).
