Work is underway to replace the 61-year-old Salmon River Bridge on Highway 97 north of Prince George, Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George-McKenzie, and Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemount, announced on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has extended the deadline to receive applications for capital and operating grants under the Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan community vehicle grant program.

Drivers along Highway 16 and visitors to the Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Whudujut Park are advised that the parking lot and Universal Boardwalk and Trail will be closed during parts of September as the Province continues highway intersection improvements and parking lot upgrades to increase the safety and accessibility of the new park.

The Government of B.C. has begun work on two projects totalling $700,000 to improve safety and access for motorists along Highway 97 through Prince George.

Work to resurface Highway 97 between Whiskers Point and Mackenzie Junction is now complete,

Safety improvements are well underway for the intersection of Vance/Cowart roads and Highway 16 in Prince George, as well as the intersection of Ferry Avenue and Highway 16. Both intersections are west of Highway 97.

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone announced $2 million in new provincial and federal funding for the now $5-million Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan, outlined the progress made to put the plan in action and opened the application process for new community vehicles.
