Indigenous women and girls in northern B.C. will receive increased community-led support through $1 million from the Giving Voice project.

People experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Prince George will soon have more safe and secure housing options as approximately 100 supportive homes and complex-care housing (CCH) units are on the way.

Mothers from across northern B.C. who are seeking a safe place to stay for themselves and their children will soon have access to 34 new transitional housing units in Prince George, along with parenting and cultural supports.

Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing, has released the following statement in response to the City of Prince George’s decision to decamp individuals at Millennium Park:

People in need of affordable housing in Prince George will soon have access to 36 new rental homes with the purchase of a new building at 605 Quebec St.

Safe and secure homes with supports for as many as 30 people experiencing homelessness in Prince George are coming soon.

The Province and the City of Prince George have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to better support people who are unhoused and sheltering in encampments and to help prevent encampments.

The Province is helping keep people safe by creating hubs of police, dedicated prosecutors and probation officers focused on tackling repeat violent offending in every region of the province.
