The British Columbia government is providing $100,000 to the City of Revelstoke, announced Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Minister Doug Donaldson today.

Effective at noon Pacific time on Oct. 13, 2017, Category 3 fires will once again be permitted within the Columbia Fire Zone in the Southeast Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfire in that region. Category 2 open fires have been allowed in the Columbia Fire Zone since Sept. 30.

The Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke is currently closed in both directions, after debris blocked a channel on Camp Creek sending water and other material flowing over the highway.

Skilled trades students in the Revelstoke and Arrow Lake school districts will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.

A funding partnership between the City of Revelstoke and the Province to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion through a major intersection in this community was announced by Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.

Additional health-care assistant seats are being added to Okanagan College in Revelstoke to meet the demands for health-care services in local communities with one-time funding of $64,000.

The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the Revelstoke School District will be prepared thanks to $22,500 in provincial funding awarded to the district, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

Students, teachers and staff at Arrow Heights Elementary school in the Revelstoke school district will benefit from $290,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Families in the Revelstoke school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $49,847 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

Several repaving projects, including the resurfacing of over 60 kilometres of Highway 23N, will soon be underway in the Revelstoke area, bringing smoother roads and a more comfortable ride for local motorists, cyclists, tourists and industry.
