Obtaining a permit to cut and collect free firewood on Crown land is easier than ever, now that permit applications can be filled out online.

Arts and culture organizations in 55 communities around the province are benefiting from a special community resilience grants program.

With the recent number of storms, high-water and flood events in many areas of the Skeena region, members of the public are reminded to use caution when driving on backcountry and forest service roads in northwest B.C. this fall and winter.

The Province and the Houston Snowmobile Club signed a stewardship management agreement today to protect caribou in the Skeena Region. 

BC Wildfire Service personnel will be conducting forest-fuel treatments and doing pile burning in two locations near Smithers and Telkwa. The objective is to remove accumulated slash debris from firewood cutting and trees affected by mountain pine beetles.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, open burning will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, campfires will once again be allowed in the entire Northwest Fire Centre.
