With the official opening of an electric vehicle fast-charging station at the Surrey Museum today, B.C. is well on its way to becoming the first province in Canada to provide electric vehicle drivers with a network of 13 direct current (DC) fast-charging stations.

The B.C. government will provide the greenhouse sector with permanent carbon tax relief.

Residents of South Surrey and Langley will enjoy better access to Highway 99 and across 16th Avenue thanks to the replacement of the 16th Avenue interchange now underway.

The eastern section of the new South Fraser Perimeter Road, B.C.'s newest highway, opens to traffic Dec. 1. The new route will be numbered Highway 17 and will help to strengthen the economy by moving goods and people more safely and efficiently on the south side of the Fraser River.

Minister of State for Small Business Naomi Yamamoto was joined by nine Fraser Valley municipalities in Surrey today to announce that they have agreed to implement a one-year, inter-municipal, business-licence pilot, making it easier for businesses to operate in those communities.

The government of British Columbia is investing $60.5 million over the next three years in provincial highway improvements to reduce congestion, increase safety and support public transit for families, commuters and commercial drivers in Surrey, Langley and Delta.
