Spencer Chandra Herbert, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, has issued the following statement in response to the ‘yes’ vote by eligible voters on the ratification of the Kitsumkalum Treaty and Self-Government Constitution:

Eligible voters are deciding whether to ratify the Kitsumkalum Treaty and self-government constitution.

Trail and backcountry-campground upgrades are now underway in Seven Sisters Park to provide beginner hikers and families more opportunities to connect with nature.

Kitsumkalum First Nation has initiated a Treaty ratification campaign with a ratification date set for Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.

Eligible voters are voting on whether to ratify the Kitselas Treaty and self-government Constitution. While voting has been in progress online and through mail-in ballots, the in-person vote is being held on April 10, 2025.
