Families in the Vancouver school district will benefit from improved transportation services thanks to $53,423 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

Government is providing $500,000 to this year’s Raise-a-Reader campaign to support community-based literacy programs for children and families throughout British Columbia.

Education Minister Mike Bernier released the following statement clarifying utilization targets for school construction in B.C.:

Students at Dr. Annie B. Jamieson Elementary will start heading to classes in a safer seismically upgraded school in 2019 thanks to a $13.1 million investment by the provincial government.

B.C.’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer students will now see themselves together with other groups reflected in anti-bullying policies in school districts and independent schools throughout the province.

The families of more than 32,000 B.C. children born in 2007 or later have taken up the opportunity to kick-start their education savings during the first year of the $1,200 British Columbia Training and Education Savings Grant (BCTESG).
