Residents in Metro Vancouver know two things: we need more housing supply and more transit.

On the eve of Emergency Preparedness Week (May 1-7, 2016), and following the recent earthquakes in Japan where aftershocks continue to rumble, the Province is announcing a new program to help students, their families and their communities better prepare for emergencies.

Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Peter Fassbender, Minister of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development and Minister Responsible for TransLink, issued the following statement regarding recent meetings with the federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities:

After just four years in operation, WorkBC Employment Services Centres have helped put more than 77,000 British Columbians back to work.

Drivers can expect heavy traffic volumes and delays from Saturday night (April 2) through Sunday morning (April 3) on the Lions Gate Bridge, as crews work to install the temporary construction bridge cover for rehabilitation work.

In early April, the ministry will start rehabilitation work on the south tower of the Lions Gate Bridge to replace the expansion joint.
