It is a fascinating journey. As an agriculture product moves through the food production system, there are many British Columbians who have worked hard to get that product on the shelf, so it is proudly displayed for consumers at the local farmers market, fishmonger or grocery store. 

When making a trip to their local grocery store, farmers market or going out for dinner, British Columbians are strongly influenced by their interest in supporting the local economy, and their desire for food that is fresh and safe to eat.

It’s good news for the honey bees and beekeepers of British Columbia, with the addition of two new bee inspectors hired to join the Province’s apiculture inspection team.

The Government of British Columbia has underscored its commitment to work with Indigenous peoples in the spirit of respect and collaboration by introducing a set of draft principles designed to guide the daily work of provincial government employees. Don Wright, head of the BC Public Service shared the draft principles with all 27,000 public service employees on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Farmers and food processors in British Columbia will have $14 million in federal and provincial government support over the next five years, to help them develop new products and processes that will support food production in B.C.
