Local governments and Modern Treaty Nations will be able to begin work on larger climate-action projects, protecting communities for the next generation of British Columbians.

British Columbia’s continued progress on climate action is demonstrated in the newly released 2023 Climate Change Accountability Report, which outlines the actions and results of B.C.’s work to meet the Province’s climate targets.

Communities throughout the province are restoring watersheds and wetlands to protect aquatic ecosystems and promote healthier environments for British Columbians and wildlife.

Three new projects, in partnership with coastal Indigenous Nations, will target marine debris along B.C.’s shoreline, including more remote areas in Haida Gwaii and the Discovery Islands.  

Wildfires around B.C. are causing poor air quality in many areas of the province and are expected to worsen.

Turning plastics from old car batteries into new ones, developing artificial intelligence to sort plastics for recycling and supporting local micro-recycling facilities are among nine projects being funded under the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund.
