Indigenous peoples living in urban areas are receiving increased supports to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic through new provincial funding for friendship centres throughout B.C.

Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement to mark Louis Riel Day:

The Province of British Columbia and Snuneymuxw First Nation have reached two agreements that foster economic development and support a strong and stable future for Snuneymuxw and its members.

First Nations in B.C. and the provincial government completed and signed a 23-year agreement on Sept. 16, 2020, that will see the Province share approximately $3 billion in gaming revenue.
