The Province of British Columbia announced the B.C. Startup in Residence Pilot Program, that will enable companies to work within government to deliver innovative solutions to digital challenges.  

The 2017 HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens rugby tournament will return to Langford this May, thanks in part to a $130,000 provincial investment announced by Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour.

British Columbia’s technology sector is strong and growing and to celebrate the success of the sector and those who work in it, the B.C. government is proclaiming March 13 to 17, as Technology Skills Appreciation Week.

Following on the success of the We for She conference in Vancouver last year, Premier Christy Clark announced, on International Women’s Day, that the We for She conference will bring business leaders and young women from all across B.C. together again for an event in the fall of 2017.

Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour has issued the following statement on the observance of the 2017 Fallen Firefighters' Memorial:

The Province intends to move ahead with an amendment to the Firefighters Occupational Disease Regulation under the Workers Compensation Act to add presumptions for breast cancer, prostate cancer and multiple myeloma as occupational diseases for firefighters.

In accordance with a commitment made in May of 2016, the B.C. government will increase the minimum wage by 50 cents to $11.35 an hour, effective Sept. 15 of this year, to better reflect the province’s overall economic growth and ensure all workers benefit from B.C.’s thriving job market.
