Michael J. Prince, the Lansdowne professor of social policy at the University of Victoria, has been appointed chair of Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) by Shane Simpson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction.

Tom Christensen has served as board chair of Community Living B.C. since July 2015, and as his term comes to an end, Shane Simpson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, has issued the following statement:

The Province will co-ordinate homeless counts in up to 12 communities during March and April to help inform B.C.’s Homelessness Action Plan, which will focus on permanent housing and services.

B.C.’s third annual accessibility progress report was released today, providing an update on the past year’s work and partnerships with people with disabilities. The release of the report was timed in honour of the 25th anniversary of the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Hundreds of people with disabilities will be able to achieve greater independence and find meaningful employment, thanks to the extension of the Province’s popular Technology@Work program.
