The Province of British Columbia is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for a new awards program celebrating the athletic achievements of Aboriginal youth.

Over $3 million is being distributed among non-profit organizations throughout the province as part of the latest round of environment gaming grants funded by the Government of British Columbia.

A wide range of sporting events at the local level will benefit from over $175,000 in provincial grants.

The B.C. government has provided a $1 million grant for the partnership committee, established by the Peace River Agreement to conduct studies, identify impediments to regional growth and facilitate implementation.

The regional districts of Bulkley-Nechako and Kitimat-Stikine will benefit from over $1.38 million from the B.C. government as payment in lieu of property taxes for the Alcan Kemano hydroelectric generating station.

More than $4.7 million is being distributed to 430 artists and arts organizations as part of the latest round of successful BC Arts Council grant adjudications.

Several new appointments, including a new chair and vice-chair, have been named to the BC Arts Council (BCAC).

Eligible non-profit organizations can now apply for the next round of human and social services community gaming grants funded by the Government of British Columbia.
