British Columbians are invited to celebrate authors, publishers and the written word on BC Book Day.

Families in 21 more communities will soon benefit from convenient one-stop access to supports and services that will help their children learn, grow and thrive.

Driving Miss Sayward, a fitness park for seniors and new dementia resources are some of the projects that will soon be underway as 28 B.C. communities receive age-friendly community planning and project grants totalling $496,165.

As winter’s cold embrace descends upon B.C., the Ministry of Environment is providing over $190,000 to 13 communities and regional districts as part of the Provincial Wood Stove Exchange Program.

Fourteen organizations throughout the province are each receiving at least $10,000 and up to $50,000 to support the work they do to help stamp out racism in B.C.

Schools throughout the province are going to get revamped, updated and upgraded thanks to more than $35 million in provincial funding.

The B.C. government will provide approximately $1.6 million this winter to make additional shelter spaces available in about 100 communities to help those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with access to a safe, warm place to stay at night.

As part of its commitment under the Provincial Domestic Violence Plan, the B.C. government is investing $500,000 to increase access to transition house and safe-home services for Aboriginal women and children who are affected by domestic violence.
