British Columbians have more time to share their input for a vision of coastal ferry services, as the public consultation to seek feedback on a vision for coastal ferry services has been extended to Friday, April 17, 2020.

The chief inspector of mines has communicated to all major mines, sand and gravel, and placer operations in B.C. to ensure they are complying with the orders and directives issued by the provincial health officer in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michelle Mungall, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness, has issued the following statement in response to Canada’s ratification of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA):

Amendments to the Agricultural Land Commission Act are now in force, improving the ability of the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) to preserve farmland, encourage farming and protect local food supplies throughout British Columbia.

A key step in implementing the Fuel Price Transparency Act (FPTA) has been taken, bringing the legislation into force and giving the BC Utilities Commission (BCUC) the power to make special requests for information from oil and gas companies.

British Columbians are encouraged to participate in a public consultation to potentially develop a new regulatory framework for money services businesses and protect the people who depend on them.

The B.C. Procurement Strategy Update 2020 outlines work the Province has been doing – in collaboration with businesses and communities, as well as Indigenous peoples – to modernize its procurement system. 

A new Interim Business Property Tax Relief program will allow local governments to provide immediate property tax relief for the 2020 tax year.
