Bruce Ralston, Minister of Forests, has released the following statement regarding Canfor’s recent decisions to permanently close the Plateau sawmill in Vanderhoof and the Fort St. John sawmill, as well as to curtail operations in the southern United States:

British Columbia’s deputy chief forester has set a new allowable annual cut (AAC) level for the Kootenay Lake Timber Supply Area (TSA).

Bruce Ralston, Minister of Forests, has released the following statement in response to the binational North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Chapter 19 panel ruling on the U.S. Department of Commerce’s countervailing duty determination:

The Province will enable the transfer of approximately $60 million from a legacy trust to the Gwaii Trust Society for the benefit of the broader Haida Gwaii community.
