Although fire activity increased on many wildfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre on July 26 and July 27, 2017, fires in the Williams Lake area have not grown substantially in the last few days.

A wind warning has been issued for the Cariboo Fire Centre by weather forecasters working for the BC Wildfire Service.

After several days of favourable weather for firefighting, weather conditions are worsening in the Cariboo Fire Centre. An increase in fire behaviour and wildfire growth is expected.

BC Wildfire Service crews will conduct a controlled burnoff operation on the south east side of the Spokin Lake fire today, July 24, 2017, to create a clear and safer perimeter where ground crews can work.

Due to the evacuation order being lifted yesterday for a large portion of 100 Mile House, the BC Wildfire Service has rescinded the area restriction order to Watson Lake, Lac La Hache, Williams Lake and Horse Lake. This rescindment is effective immediately.

The BC Wildfire Service is reminding everyone that public access to Williams Lake, Watson Lake, Lac La Hache and Horse Lake has been restricted since July 14, 2017. This area restriction order was necessary to keep people off these lakes and assist with wildfire suppression efforts.

To assist with wildfire suppression activities, the Cariboo Fire Centre is restricting public access to Williams Lake, Watson Lake, Lac La Hache and Horse Lake, effective immediately.
