The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire burning roughly five kilometres northwest of Nazko, B.C. and roughly 90 kilometres west of Quesnel, B.C.

Effective at noon on April 4, 2016, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Applications for the first year of funding under the BC Rural Dividend will be accepted from April 4 to May 31, 2016.

Due to the current dry conditions, the Cariboo Fire Centre will be prohibiting Category 2 and Category 3 fires, as of noon on April 4, 2016, to help prevent human-caused fires and protect the public.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is planning to conduct a series of prescribed burns west of Williams Lake until April 30, 2016, weather conditions permitting.

Given the current dry conditions, the Cariboo Fire Centre is encouraging the public to exercise caution with any outdoor burning activities over the weekend and into the coming weeks.

The BC Wildfire Service advises that an ecosystem restoration burn is planned for an area east of Riske Creek between Nov. 2 and Dec. 31, 2015, weather conditions permitting.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, all open fires will once again be allowed across the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
