Over $11 million in community gaming grants, funded by the B.C. government, will help students access extracurricular activities and parents stay connected to their local schools.

Two new appointments to the Audit Council for the Auditor General for Local Government were announced by Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Peter Fassbender.

Applications are now being accepted for several project assistance funding programs offered by the BC Arts Council.

The Province of B.C. has announced the three communities chosen to host the 55+ BC Games in 2017 through to 2019. These cities were successful in their bids following a process conducted by the BC Senior Games Society that determined the winners from a total of six submissions.

The Small Communities Fund will accept applications for $90 million in support for infrastructure before the end of this year, Premier Christy Clark announced at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities annual convention.

All British Columbians deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhoods. Investments in the provincial anti-gang strategy, community safety and policing have been successful in driving down crime in B.C. – with youth and violent crime at historical lows – but more needs to be done.
