The governments of Canada and British Columbia gathered today to celebrate the official opening of Pioneer Haven, a new $1.5-million affordable seniors housing development providing eight apartments of modular housing for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Future health professionals across the province will benefit from an additional 188 student spaces to get the training they need as nurses, health-care assistants and pharmacy technicians to provide the high-quality health care B.C. families deserve.

Outdoor recreation in the Golden area is getting a boost with the construction of a new trail up Golden Hill.

The Province is contributing more than $295,000 to support 61 sporting events hosted in communities all over British Columbia during the coming months, announced Ida Chong, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

Through the Ministry of Advanced Education's Nurses Education Bursary, 109 students in nursing programs across British Columbia will receive a total of $218,000 in bursaries this summer.
