From the opening the newest hospital on Haida Gwaii, to preparing for construction of a new Centre for Mental Health and Addictions, 2016 strengthened health care for families around the province and 2017 is expected to continue to do so.

Students in the Haida Gwaii School District are packing their bags and traveling to other B.C. communities for enhanced skills, technical, and trades training opportunities thanks to $5,000 for the school district from the Province’s Skills Training Access Grant.

People living on Haida Gwaii will soon know where to safely go in the event a tsunami strikes their coast, thanks to a collaborative project between local First Nations and governments, the Province, BC Hydro and TELUS.

Students, teachers and staff at Gudangaay Tlaats'gaa Naay Secondary school in the Haida Gwaii school district will benefit from $220,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Families throughout the province will soon benefit from improved transportation services in their communities, thanks to $14.7 million in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.
