With warmer temperatures on the way and weather experts forecasting a hot summer, the Province and public-health officials are taking several steps to help people stay safe this summer and are asking people to plan ahead.

With many parts of the province experiencing warmer weather and British Columbia forecast to have an active wildfire season, the Province is introducing an interactive Emergency Ready Planner to help people create an emergency and evacuation plan for their family.

A new dedicated wildfire training and education centre at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) will welcome the province’s future wildfire fighters.

B.C. is taking an important step forward in drought preparedness by supporting a new Cowichan Lake weir, ensuring the Cowichan River continues to flow and provide a safe and reliable water supply for people, businesses, the environment and wildlife.

More communities will benefit from local projects that help keep people safe during disasters and extreme-weather events.
