The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations advises that an ecosystem restoration burn is planned for the Crow’s Bar area between Wednesday, Sept. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, weather conditions permitting.

Comments are being accepted until Nov. 24, 2015, on a discussion paper released today as part of a comprehensive timber supply review for the Kamloops Timber Supply Area.

In recognition of National Forest Week from Sept. 20-26, 2015, firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service will perform a rapattack (short for “rappel attack”) demonstration at the University of British Columbia’s Thunderbird Commons on Sept. 25, starting at 4 p.m.

The BC Wildfire Service is planning a series of controlled burns in the Nadina Fire Zone, between Sept. 17 and Oct. 15, 2015, weather permitting.

A fibre action plan will help generate more value from the province’s forest resources.

The B.C. government is investing $2.2 million in the Wood First program to promote the use of B.C. wood both locally and internationally, and help advance innovative wood-building systems and value-added wood products.

Local recreational trails in the Kamloops-North Thompson area are being cleared and cattle range fencing will be repaired by two local Aboriginal people who are getting work experience in forestry and agriculture.
