The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a one-hectare wildfire in the community of Cedarvale, about 46 kilometres southwest of Hazelton.

The Government of British Columbia is investing $5 million this year for more than 50 projects in communities throughout B.C. that will improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists on provincial highways and roads.

Buckland and Taylor Ltd. of North Vancouver took the top award for Design and Contract Preparation - Structures at the 9th annual Deputy Minister's Consulting Engineers Awards, for its exceptional work on the Hagwilget Suspension Bridge Rehabilitation project near New Hazelton.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure's 2012 Community Service Initiative, in partnership with the BC Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association, has resulted in the completion of local infrastructure improvements that will benefit families in many communities around the province.

A $3.7-million project to rehabilitate the Hagwilget Bridge near New Hazelton will make this crossing safer for families and commercial users.

The Province is investing $25.8 million in highway infrastructure improvements in the Northwest to improve the ride, safety and efficiency of the highway network for residents, travellers and commercial drivers.
