In the spirit of partnership and reconciliation, a landmark agreement to explore salmon reintroduction into the Columbia River Basin between the Syilx Okanagan, Ktunaxa and Secwepemc Indigenous Nations, Canada and British Columbia was signed today in Castlegar.

Supporting First Nations communities in emergency situations is a priority for the Government of Canada.  First Nations communities are often vulnerable because of their remote locations, and the government is committed to ensuring everyone in Canada has access to quick, reliable emergency services.

The Province is urging British Columbians to prepare and be diligent, as Environment Canada continues to warn residents of strong winds and substantial rains for parts of coastal B.C. and the River Forecast Centre warns of high stream flow and potential flooding in South Coast communities.

Canada's Premiers are focused on actions to maintain the strength of the Canadian economy in the current international economic situation. Premiers shared perspectives on commodity prices, the fluctuating value of the Canadian dollar, and how these changes will impact their respective fiscal plans.
