More police teams and prosecutors dedicated to combating gang violence will be on the ground and new curbs on gang crime and illegal guns will soon be in place. These are among a dozen new and expanded initiatives that are part of a more than $23-million boost to B.C.’s Guns and Gangs Strategy.

The Province is supporting the creation of approximately 1,700 new licensed child-care spaces under the third phase of the Child Care Major Capital Funding Program.

To celebrate the official launch of the new Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI), Minister of Children and Family Development Stephanie Cadieux met with two eager single mothers and staff from the Surrey-Cloverdale WorkBC Employment Services Centre to discuss the program and how it will help them achieve their individual career goals.

The B.C. government's comprehensive approach to crime received a boost, including a significant contribution to the successful Surrey Wraparound Program (Wrap), which reduces gang-related activity among youth.

The busiest Provincial Court location in the province is about to receive a $24.3-million expansion, paving the way for faster and smoother access to justice, and demonstrating government's commitment to meeting the justice needs of B.C.'s communities.
