To celebrate the official launch of the new Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI), Minister of Children and Family Development Stephanie Cadieux met with two eager single mothers and staff from the Surrey-Cloverdale WorkBC Employment Services Centre to discuss the program and how it will help them achieve their individual career goals.
The program is expected to help 16,000 single parents on income or disability assistance by covering post-secondary training for some of the most in-demand jobs in B.C. – along with transportation and child-care costs during training and for the first year of employment.
