The Province, the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council and seven Carrier Sekani First Nations have completed an agreement that will increase the First Nations’ participation in the forest economy, while setting the stage to advance reconciliation.

As part of the Provincial Domestic Violence Plan, the Province is investing more than $1.5 million to continue to expand and strengthen supports for those affected by domestic violence in B.C.

The B.C. government is encouraging all British Columbians to participate in their local National Aboriginal Day celebrations on June 21 as a means of fostering reconciliation through awareness of Aboriginal culture and achievements.

Twenty-four Aboriginal organizations and communities throughout B.C. will receive $1.5 million from the provincial government to support culture-based domestic violence programs for Aboriginal families and communities.

Seven Aboriginal organizations and communities on Vancouver Island will share approximately $310,000 from the Province to support culture-based domestic violence programs for Aboriginal families and communities.

As part of its commitment under the Provincial Domestic Violence Plan, the B.C. government is investing $500,000 to increase access to transition house and safe-home services for Aboriginal women and children who are affected by domestic violence.
