The Holt Creek Trestle which acts as a bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and horseback riders along the Trans Canada Trail between Shawnigan Lake and Lake Cowichan, will be closed to the public as of Oct. 10, 2017, for rehabilitation work.

Another height restriction has been removed from the Highway 97 corridor north of Prince George, with the completion of the Salmon River Bridge replacement project.

A new median barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic will be installed along a stretch of Highway 97 in Vernon, improving safety for motorists by preventing cross-over incidents.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has completed road improvements along the westbound lanes of Highway 1 from the Lynn Valley overpass to the Taylor Way overpass in North Vancouver.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is planning to replace the Bailey bridge which crosses the Nicomekl River on King George Boulevard.

Now that the summer peak travel period is over and traffic volumes are lower, the ministry will be reducing the highway to one lane in each direction on the Malahat between Aspen Road and Shawnigan Lake Road.
