The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded a $3.7-million contract to Tybo Contracting Ltd. to carry out the Rosedale Overhead seismic upgrade, along with cycling and pedestrian improvements to the crossing.

Construction is getting underway on new passing lanes on Highway 5 between Barriere and Little Fort, near Darfield, improving safety along this stretch of the Yellowhead Highway north of Kamloops.

Crews are set to start work on the upgrades to Admirals Road between Hallowell Road and Maple Bank Road that will improve safety and access for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. 

Pedestrians and motorists are advised that preload construction work on the Highway 97 - Stickle Road intersection safety improvement project will get underway after the British Columbia Day long weekend.

The ministry is advising motorists to plan ahead, check real-time traffic conditions on DriveBC.ca and expect delays on the Coquihalla Highway this upcoming B.C. Day long weekend.

With B.C. Day around the corner, everyone has a role to play in helping to prevent wildfires and having a safe, healthy long weekend.

The ministry will be reopening a second lane to traffic on the Malahat to accommodate summer traffic and the significantly higher volumes that are expected due to long weekend travellers and concert goers attending the Sunfest Country Music Festival in the Cowichan Valley. 

All travellers – including drivers, pedestrians and cyclists – are advised that McKenzie Avenue will be closed while construction crews pour the new concrete deck for the Galloping Goose Trail bridge as part of the McKenzie Interchange Project.
