The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is planning to conduct a 35-hectare prescribed burn on Crown land about 20 kilometres southeast of Ashcroft and about three kilometres northeast of Barnes Lake.

Alkali Resource Management Ltd. and the Esketem’c First Nation, with the assistance of the BC Wildfire Service, plan to conduct a series of prescribed burns near Mayfield Lake between Wednesday, April 25 and May 4, 2018, weather conditions permitting.

Effective at noon on Monday, April 23, 2018, Category 3 open fires were prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre and within the Tsilhqot’in (Xeni Gwet’in) Declared Title Area.
