Temporary repairs to a heavily damaged section of Highway 3, 42 kilometres east of the Highway 3/5 junction, are progressing well, with the highway now expected to reopen on an interim alignment between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge is open to two-lane traffic for the first time since the 2021 atmospheric river, marking a major milestone in B.C.’s flood-recovery efforts.

With snow flurries in the forecast on the south coast of British Columbia, drivers are reminded to plan ahead and take appropriate precautions for travel in winter weather.

Work is well underway to repair Highway 3 at multiple locations between Hope and Manning Park following damage from washouts and debris.

Drivers are advised that Highway 4 between Port Alberni Summit and Chalet Road will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drivers are advised of precautionary overnight closures of two main routes between the Lower Mainland and interior of the province, with more heavy rain in the forecast.

One eastbound lane and both westbound lanes on Highway 1 in Abbotsford are now open. The single eastbound lane between Highway 11 and No. 3 Road opened this morning, Dec. 14, 2025. The two westbound lanes opened on the evening of Dec. 13, 2025.

Drivers traveling westbound through the Abbotsford area can now remain on Highway 1, avoiding a detour via Highway 7.
