To recognize and celebrate the important role honey bees play in the province’s agricultural industry and local food system, May 29 is being proclaimed Day of the Honey Bee.

A new program will revitalize hazelnut, grape, berry and tree-fruit production and increase the competitiveness and resiliency of B.C. farm businesses while supporting food security.

A new food processing growth fund of as much as $20 million will help B.C. food- and beverage-processing businesses increase productivity, economic opportunities and competitiveness, while strengthening food security for British Columbians.

B.C. farms will be more resilient to animal diseases, such as avian influenza, swine fever, and foot-and-mouth disease, with support from a $5-million provincial grant program now open for applications.
