The Province and Blueberry River First Nations are moving forward with implementation of the Gundy High Value 1 Plan, consistent with the Blueberry Implementation Agreement, to protect Treaty Rights, support restoration and land protection measures, and create more certainty for everyone in northeastern B.C. who relies on resource industry jobs to support their lives and families.

Thirty-five First Nations throughout B.C. are receiving $9.8 million in federal and provincial funding to develop clean-energy projects that will help them meet their energy needs efficiently and sustainably, while creating more jobs for people in their communities.

The Province has established an immediate Environment and Land Use Act order prohibiting jade mining activities on new tenures in northwestern B.C.

The Province is taking action to protect the environment and help keep people working in the mining sector safe through regulatory amendments that will further reduce exposure to risks on B.C. mine sites.

The Province has introduced legislative amendments to enable regulation of electricity service for cryptocurrency miners and also to eliminate the former government’s Standing Offer Program for purchasing power.

Beginning on Monday, April 1, 2024, people in B.C. will start saving on their energy bills with the B.C. Electricity Affordability Credit that will provide the average BC Hydro residential customer with savings of $100.

The Province will implement a backstop to the federal cap on emissions from the oil and gas sector to support a clean-energy future for British Columbians.
