British Columbians living with overlapping brain injury, mental-health and substance-use challenges will benefit from a new research project that will explore these areas and propose solutions to meet people’s needs.

People in Cranbrook and surrounding areas will have access to new treatment and recovery options, as well as expanded mental health and substance use services, as the Province continues to build a comprehensive system of care throughout British Columbia.

Murray Rankin, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, and Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, have released the following statement in response to the BC Coroners Service’s report on the deaths of individuals experiencing homelessness in B.C. from 2012-21:

Young people throughout Greater Vancouver will have increased access to expanded, community-based mental-health and recovery programs.

Young people in Squamish and surrounding areas can access much-needed mental-health and substance-use supports as Foundry Sea to Sky begins providing services.

More people will get mental-health and substance-use support when leaving correctional centres as B.C. creates new and expanded services for those at risk.

People with substance-use challenges in Victoria, particularly those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, will benefit from extended life-saving services and supports.

People experiencing mental-health challenges, particularly thoughts of suicide and self-harm, will benefit from improved quality of care in mental-health and substance-use treatment settings, such as emergency departments.
