As B.C. continues to fight against threatened United States tariffs of 25% on all Canadian imports, the Province has done a preliminary assessment of potential impacts to the B.C. economy of a trade war with the United States.

B.C.’s First Quarterly Report shows the province’s economy is proving resilient amid challenges, including a devastating wildfire season, high interest rates and costs, and a slowing global economy.

Despite global uncertainty, B.C. ended fiscal 2022-23 with a surplus and higher-than-expected revenue that the Province put to work helping people and communities with higher costs and growing needs.

The City of Vancouver is the first to use a new tool to help communities cover the costs of hosting internationally recognized major tourism events.

The Province’s year-end Public Accounts show B.C. had a strong fiscal result last year, bolstered by a faster-than-expected economic recovery as government made record investments to support British Columbians.
