Premier David Eby has released the following statement marking International Women’s Day:

Eligible people will get some help with their holiday bills with benefits and credits arriving in the new year.

New actions are being implemented to help more people find affordable homes in the communities where they live and work.

Patients will experience improved care and nurses will experience a stronger health-care system as the Province and BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) have now established nurse-to-patient ratios for the majority of hospital settings.

More people will have the opportunity to train for in-demand careers, such as physical therapists, occupational therapists and midwives, at a new state-of-the-art University of British Columbia (UBC) facility in Surrey.

People training for good paying, in-demand careers will be able to access grants that cover most, or all, of their tuition thanks to the next intake of the StrongerBC future skills grant.

People facing complex barriers will have better access to employment opportunities with the launch of wraparound services that support the most vulnerable on their path to employment readiness.

People seeking academic upgrading to access high-demand post-secondary programs and meet their career goals will continue to benefit from tuition-free Adult Basic Education and English Language pathway programs across B.C.
