The B.C. government is providing $40,000 to allow the emergency weather response shelter at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church in Sechelt to remain open seven days a week.

The B.C. government will provide approximately $1.6 million this winter to make additional shelter spaces available in about 100 communities to help those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with access to a safe, warm place to stay at night.

As part of its commitment under the Provincial Domestic Violence Plan, the B.C. government is investing $500,000 to increase access to transition house and safe-home services for Aboriginal women and children who are affected by domestic violence.

The B.C. government will provide up to $1.6 million this winter to help more than 90 communities make additional shelter spaces available to ensure everyone has access to a safe, warm place at night.

A proposed change to provincial legislation will support municipalities on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast and improve natural gas service in their communities.
