An updated Liquor Control and Licencing Act and regulation come into force Jan. 23 that will create new opportunities for businesses, increase convenience for consumers and enhance the Province’s commitment to social responsibility.

British Columbians are benefiting from the provincial government’s continued focus on improving consumer choice and convenience, increasing flexibility and reducing red tape for liquor sales and service in B.C.  

B.C. hotels and resorts with a bar, pub or restaurant on site will soon be able to allow their guests to carry unfinished liquor from their licensed establishment directly to their rooms, a move that provides flexibility for businesses and increases convenience for British Columbians and visitors to the province.

Fancy a shave and scotch? How about a mani-pedi-champagne? New policy changes from the Province will allow all types of B.C. businesses to apply for a liquor licence, opening up possibilities for new revenue streams and diversified business services.

Liquor licence applications will be processed more efficiently thanks to upcoming changes involving local governments and First Nations.

The successful bidder in the first round of special wine store licence auctions has received approval in principle from the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) for six liquor licences that allow for the sale of 100% British Columbia wine on grocery store shelves.

British Columbia’s licensed restaurants, bars, manufacturer lounges and caterers will be able to age and infuse liquor in order to create their own unique craft cocktails as part of the Province’s ongoing efforts to modernize liquor policies.

BC Liquor Stores is hosting its Premium Spirits Release on Nov. 5, 2016, at locations throughout the province where a diverse selection of unique spirits, including rare whiskies, scotches and bourbons, will go on sale.
