Premier John Horgan and Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture, have issued the following statement in support of British Columbia’s dairy industry in light of ongoing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) negotiations:

The British Columbia agriculture sector will have new resources available to support its efforts in adapting to climate change.

The independent Minister’s Advisory Committee for Revitalizing the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) and the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) has submitted its interim report to Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture.

Producers are reminded that in one month, a new, strengthened regulatory approach for domestically marketed organic food and beverage products will be in place in British Columbia.

AgriService BC connects farmers, food processors and new entrants to agriculture, to the services, programs and information that the B.C. government offers to help them succeed.

The British Columbia hazelnut industry will have a chance to regenerate after facing challenges with eastern filbert blight (EFB).
