Minister of Agriculture Lana Popham has issued the following statement in recognition of B.C.’s agriculture producers and the upcoming Thanksgiving long weekend:

B.C. ranchers and farmers can now access the $20-million 2017 Canada-British Columbia Wildfires Recovery Initiative to help rebuild their livelihoods.

The British Columbia government is conducting a review of the Province’s professional reliance model to ensure the highest professional, technical and ethical standards are being applied to resource management in B.C.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO), a major hub for all things B.C. agriculture, has received a Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) community excellence award for Leadership and Innovation in Agriculture.

Together, the governments of Canada and British Columbia continue to support the people of British Columbia and First Nations communities facing the immediate and long-term impacts of wildfires.

An independent, respected national water and governance expert has been commissioned to support the review of the pollution in the Hullcar Aquifer, recently announced by Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy George Heyman.

The British Columbia government is celebrating Frederickson Farm and its 100 years of ranching in B.C. with a Century Farm Award.
