Indigenous families in over 30 communities throughout the province will benefit from more than 600 new, free licensed child care spaces and expanded Aboriginal Head Start (AHS) programs.

More than 1,300 additional families with children who have special needs are benefiting from respite services by qualified caregivers, thanks to this year’s program expansion.

A significant increase in funding will help public-sector and non-profit organizations create more publicly owned and operated child care spaces in their communities, bringing child care closer to home and making life more affordable for B.C. families.

Approximately 2,300 new child care spaces are coming to schools, community centres and other public facilities across Vancouver, making routines easier for busy parents and helping young children transition smoothly into the school system.
