Rachna Singh, Minister of Education and Child Care, has released the following statement regarding the first day of school: 

To support students as they gain skills and knowledge for the future, the remaining school districts will update their kindergarten through Grade 9 student progress reporting to align with curriculum modernization that started in 2016.

Child care providers who provide outstanding care, connection and learning environments for B.C. children were recognized at the ChildCareBC Awards of Excellence ceremony held on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

Grace Lore, Minister of State for Child Care, has released the following statement for Child Care Provider Appreciation Day in B.C.:

Students from kindergarten to Grade 12 in B.C. will have more access to programs that develop skills needed to succeed in technology and other in-demand careers.

Students throughout B.C. will soon be learning in safer, improved schools now that more funding is available to school districts.

An increase in government funding means more children with support needs are receiving inclusive child care, and more child care providers will be trained to provide these services to help children of all abilities thrive in communities throughout British Columbia.

Nominations are open to honour child care providers who go above and beyond to help children achieve their best, or who have shown innovation, demonstrated leadership or used partnerships to advance child care in their community.

More than 725 child care spaces are joining the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program in February, bringing the number of spaces to 12,700 and helping families across the province save thousands of dollars per year.
