Today's students are benefiting from more opportunities to reach their full potential than ever before.

As the next phase of renewing the Province's education funding model, B.C.'s Minister of Education is asking parents, teachers, support staff, school administrators and others to help shape the path forward to make education funding work better for students in the classroom.

The review panel for the K-12 Public Education Funding Review has been selected by Minister of Education Rob Fleming, and the guiding principles for a new funding model have been finalized. 

The Province is investing in community-based programs to help adult learners break barriers they face to building their future.

Government has confirmed over $355 million in funding allocations for all 60 school districts to restore class size and composition language under the agreement with the British Columbia Teachers' Federation (BCTF).

Government is providing school districts with a total of $95 million to help them extend the life of their facilities, put new supplies in classrooms and buy new school buses. 

British Columbia finished 2016 with more than $950 million worth of school construction projects underway – something the Province will be building on in 2017.

Students throughout the province soon will have more opportunities and resources at their fingertips to help them train for careers after graduation.

Work clothes? Check. Books? Check. Tools? Check. A place to stay? Check. Students in the Haida Gwaii School District are packing their bags and traveling to other B.C. communities for enhanced skills, technical, and trades training opportunities thanks to $5,000 for the school district from the Province’s Skills Training Access Grant.

The Government of British Columbia is providing $702,000 to the Vancouver school district to repair, upgrade and improve five of its facilities to make sure students, teachers and staff have comfortable and refreshed places to learn and work.
